India expands AI infrastructure through GPU access and sovereign enterprise programs
India is expanding its artificial intelligence infrastructure through the IndiaAI Mission, which has onboarded more than 38,000 GPUs. This initiative aims to democratize compute access, with costs reaching as low as INR 65 per hour. In the financial sector, Blue Machines AI has introduced Project Icebreaker. This sovereign AI co-innovation program is designed to help five Indian financial institutions—including banks, insurers, and fintechs—transition AI projects from proofs of concept to full production. The program provides platform access, engineering, and deployment support at no cost to participants, focusing on agentic customer journeys and maintaining data sovereignty within private or on-premise environments.
