India expands global economic ties with UAE and major powers
India is significantly expanding its economic footprint through strategic partnerships with the United Arab Emirates and various global powers. Following the implementation of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) in 2022, trade between India and the UAE surpassed $100 billion by the end of the 2025-2026 fiscal year, up from approximately $60 billion at the start of the agreement. The CEPA has facilitated the removal of 80% of tariffs, with a goal to eliminate all tariffs within ten years. Both nations aim to double bilateral trade to $200 billion by 2032.
Simultaneously, India is emerging as a critical partner for the European Union, the United States, and Russia. As the world's sixth-largest economy with an annual growth rate of nearly 7%, India offers a market of 1.4 billion people, a flexible workforce, and advanced technological capabilities. The European Union remains India's largest trading partner, with annual exchanges of goods and services reaching 180 billion euros. This growing interest is driven by India's political stability and its diverse economy, which spans IT services, manufacturing, and agriculture.
