India and South Korea strengthen defence ties amid regional security shifts
India and South Korea are strengthening their strategic partnership through enhanced defence industry and logistics cooperation. During a joint committee meeting in New Delhi, officials and major companies from both nations explored expanding collaboration in defence production and manufacturing.
Simultaneously, India is overhauling its domestic missile production by integrating private sector companies. This policy shift, approved by the Defence Ministry, aims to create wartime redundancy and improve production efficiency by allowing private firms to act as development-cum-production partners for technologies previously managed by state-run entities.
In South Korea, President Lee Jae Myung visited soldiers injured by landmine explosions in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). A joint investigation by the South Korean military and the United Nations Command concluded the mines were planted by North Korean forces, an act described as a violation of the armistice. President Lee pledged full compensation and support for the wounded soldiers and their families.
