India extends deployment of 273 paramilitary companies in Delhi until October 31
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has extended the deployment of 273 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) in Delhi until October 31. This marks the second extension of their presence in the national capital.
The decision follows requests from the Delhi Police to maintain law and order amid fears of sudden protests by political and other organizations. The deployment is intended to manage potential unrest at sensitive locations across the city.
The 273 companies include 125 from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), which includes 20 companies of female personnel. Other contributing forces include the Border Security Force (BSF) with 46 companies, the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) with 39, the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) with 31, the Rapid Action Force (RAF) with 20, and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) with 12.
