India extends real estate project timelines amid West Asia conflict

The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs issued an advisory directing all state Real Estate Regulatory Authorities (RERAs) to grant a four‑month extension to registration and completion dates for eligible real estate projects disrupted by supply‑chain shortages linked to the West Asia war. The advisory, classifying the West Asia situation as a "war" for force‑majeure purposes, also recommended a common order to avoid separate applications for each project.

Following the ministry’s guidance, the Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority automatically extended registration validity and completion deadlines by four months for projects whose original or revised dates fall on or after 28 February 2026, moving the new deadline to 30 November 2026. No application or fee is required. Developers’ bodies such as CREDAI and NAREDCO welcomed the relief, saying it helps homebuyers and developers navigate material shortages and complete projects in an orderly manner.
