Nepal PM attends UNGA to seek climate justice after devastating floods

Nepal Prime Minister Balendra Shah has traveled to New York for the 81st UN General Assembly to advocate for climate justice. Following the devastating Bhotekoshi flood on August 26, which resulted in over 1,400 deaths and thousands missing, Shah intends to highlight Nepal’s vulnerability to climate change and seek international support through the Loss and Damage Fund.

In separate diplomatic and economic developments, India has expressed its desire for a constructive relationship with Bangladesh, seeking to address bilateral issues through existing mechanisms. Additionally, India and OPEC held their seventh High-Level Energy Dialogue in New Delhi, focusing on oil market stability, energy security, and the growing global demand driven by India’s economy.

In legal news, the Delhi High Court granted bail to former Reliance executive Amitabh Jhunjhunwala on medical grounds in a money laundering case. Meanwhile, various matters, including pleas regarding social media content and educational mandates, are scheduled for hearing before the Supreme Court of India.
