The footage, which mocked Shubham's appearance, went viral, leading to widespread transphobic harassment and significant personal distress.

Experts warn that as smart glasses become more common, the risk of surreptitious recording increases. While manufacturers like Meta include small LED indicators to signal recording, critics argue this places the burden of privacy protection on the public rather than the technology providers. Some users have even sought ways to disable these indicators to film covertly.

This technological shift occurs alongside rising rates of cyberstalking and deepfakes in India.
