England whitewashes India 4-0 in T20 series at Southampton

England completed a 4-0 sweep of India in the five‑match T20 International series in England, winning the final game at The Rose Bowl in Southampton by 56 runs. England posted a record 257/3, powered by a 233‑run opening partnership between captain Jos Buttler (131) and Harry Brook (95 not out), who was named Player of the Series. India, led by new captain Shreyas Iyer, were unable to adapt to changing conditions, struggled with fielding lapses and lost wickets in clusters, managing only 201/8 with half‑centuries from Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma.

Iyer said after the match: “We need to be aware and adapt as professionals,” and admitted that poor fielding and a lack of partnership building cost the side. The defeat gave England the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20I rankings and left India with several unwanted records: never having lost six consecutive T20 matches, and the first time being blanked in a bilateral series of more than two games. Iyer also set a personal record, becoming only the second captain ever to win the toss in each of his first seven T20I matches.
