India festive shopping season sees major sales and fraud warnings

Amazon India has launched its annual Great Indian Festival sale, offering significant discounts of up to 70 percent on consumer electronics. The sale features price reductions on audio equipment, including headphones and soundbars, as well as laptops, tablets, and smart wearables from major brands such as Apple, Samsung, Dell, and HP.

In response to the surge in festive shopping, the Indian government has issued a cyber awareness advisory through CyberDost. Authorities warned citizens to remain vigilant against fraudulent websites that use the logos and imagery of popular brands to deceive shoppers. These counterfeit sites are designed to steal money and sensitive personal information via deceptive advertisements and fake promotional links.
