India fuel prices hold steady on July 14, 2026
Petrol and diesel prices across Indian cities remained unchanged on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. In Chennai, petrol was sold at Rs 107.77 per litre and diesel at Rs 99.55 per litre, matching rates from the previous five days. Hyderabad recorded the highest petrol price at Rs 115.69 per litre, while Thiruvananthapuram had the costliest diesel at Rs 104.40 per litre. The price freeze follows a series of cumulative hikes since May 15, totalling roughly Rs 7.5 per litre, driven by a sharp rise in global crude after U.S.–Israeli strikes on Iran and disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. State‑run retailers delayed passing on higher input costs to shield consumers, a move criticised by opposition parties ahead of upcoming state elections. The government kept the export duty on petrol unchanged while raising duties on diesel and aviation turbine fuel.
