India funds UN cyber security portal as Tanzania kicks off AI training

Tanzania has launched a specialised training programme for ICT experts aimed at strengthening cyber resilience, personal data protection and the responsible use of artificial intelligence. The programme, coordinated by the ICT Commission and supported by the European Union and experts from Germany, Finland and Estonia, gathered public‑ and private‑sector professionals in Dar es Salaam. ICTC Director General Dr Nkundwe Mwasaga said, "This sector‑specific training strengthens the expertise of our ICT professionals" and highlighted its relevance to the country's Vision 2050 digital transformation goals.

India announced that it will fully finance a United Nations ICT Security Portal designed to provide training resources, learning materials and a collaborative forum for developing nations. The pledge was made by India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, who said the portal will help enhance global cyber resilience. India’s national cyber incident response agency, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT‑In), will contribute technical expertise for the portal’s development and long‑term operation.
