India's Sports Minister Mandaviya Reaffirms Commitment to 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad

Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya met Scotland's First Minister John Swinney and Commonwealth Secretary‑General‑Elect Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey in Glasgow during the Commonwealth Sports Ministers' Meeting. He used the occasion to stress India's readiness to host the centenary 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, promising an "exceptional Games" that will leave a lasting institutional legacy.

Mandaviya outlined India's sports reforms, including the Khelo Bharat Niti, ASMITA Leagues, strengthened anti‑doping measures and gender‑inclusion initiatives, and said India will chair the Commonwealth Association of Bureau of Sport (CABOS) for the 2026‑2030 cycle. He also highlighted India's participation in the upcoming 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where a 125‑member Indian contingent will compete.

The minister affirmed support for a Commonwealth Sport Coordination Forum and pledged that Ahmedabad will deliver a historic, sustainable and memorable edition of the Games, building on India's successful performance at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
