India gold and silver prices fall sharply in a week
India's bullion market saw a notable decline this week. The price of 24‑carat gold dropped by ₹6,438 to ₹1,47,800 per 10 g, while 22‑carat fell to ₹1,35,385 and 18‑carat to ₹1,10,850 per 10 g. Silver prices fell by ₹14,326 to ₹2,42,582 per kg. The lowest gold price recorded was ₹1,44,782 on 11 June, with the highest at ₹1,52,519 on 9 June; silver hit a low of ₹2,32,591 on 11 June and a high of ₹2,45,938 on 9 June. Analysts attribute the drop to rising inflation expectations, heightened US‑Iran tensions lifting crude oil prices, and higher interest‑rate prospects prompting investors to realise gains. Globally, gold trades near $4,248 per ounce and silver around $68 per ounce. Over the past year, gold delivered more than a 24 % return in US dollars, while silver returned over 87 %.
