India gold and silver prices tumble from record highs

Precious‑metal prices in India have dropped markedly after reaching all‑time highs. On the MCX, silver fell from about ₹2,48,537 per kilogram on 5 June to around ₹2,46,604, a decline of roughly ₹20,394 (≈2 %) within ten days. Gold slipped from a peak of ₹1,55,594 per 10 grams on 5 June to ₹1,50,675, a fall of about ₹4,919 (≈3 %).

Analysts attribute the pull‑back to a mix of geopolitical and economic factors: heightened Middle‑East tensions, expectations of higher U.S. Federal Reserve rates and a stronger dollar, as well as broader global economic uncertainty. The price‑pressure on gold is also linked to potential reductions in central‑bank buying and the outlook for crude‑oil prices, which affect inflation and demand for safe‑haven assets.

The sharper prices have attracted attention from investors who view the discounts as a buying opportunity, while market watchers caution that further weakness could continue if rate hikes persist or geopolitical risks remain elevated.
