India healthcare sector sees new investment initiatives
Invesco Mutual Fund has launched the Invesco India Pharma and Healthcare Fund, aimed at capitalizing on the structural transformation of India’s healthcare ecosystem. Managed by Aditya Khemani, the fund will invest across various segments, including pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, diagnostics, medical devices, and healthcare services. The fund is benchmarked against the BSE Healthcare TRI and seeks to leverage drivers such as increasing healthcare expenditure, aging demographics, and expanding insurance penetration.
In a separate development within the sector, Inviga is employing a clinician-led investment strategy in the Indian mid-market healthcare space. Unlike traditional equity investors, Inviga utilizes a two-track approach: maintaining control positions in hospital services they operate, while holding minority positions in high-IP adjacencies like biotech, diagnostics, and medical devices. This strategy aims to integrate technology and intellectual property directly into their hospital platforms.
