India hikes domestic LPG cylinder price by 29 rupees

The Indian government raised the price of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder by ₹29, increasing the cost in Delhi from ₹913 to ₹942 per cylinder. This is the second price increase in three months, the first being a ₹60 rise on March 7.

The hike, effective from June 7, reflects rising global fuel prices, higher import costs and variations in state taxes and transport charges. Commercial LPG cylinders also saw increases, with a 19 kg cylinder in Delhi going from ₹3,071.50 to ₹3,113.50.

Oil companies have reported significant losses on LPG sales, estimating a prior loss of about ₹703 per cylinder. The government says the adjustment helps share the burden of global energy price spikes, but analysts warn that repeated increases could further strain middle‑ and low‑income households.
