India to build super-speciality hospital in West Bank

India is expanding its healthcare assistance to Palestine through the construction of a 200-bed super-speciality hospital in Jenin, located in the West Bank. The project, which includes modern medical facilities and a trauma center, aims to serve Jenin and neighboring governorates such as Tulkarm and Tubas.

Palestinian Ambassador to India, Abdullah M. Abu Shawesh, confirmed that the necessary paperwork has been finalized and expressed hope that the hospital will be completed within the next two years. This initiative is part of a broader commitment by India to support Palestinian infrastructure, which also includes the establishment of an Artificial Limb Fitment Centre and a Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre.

The developments follow a visit to Palestine by Indian Ministry of External Affairs Secretary Sripriya Ranganathan, who met with Palestinian officials to reiterate India’s long-standing support for a two-state solution. Alongside the hospital project, India has also provided a fresh consignment of life-saving medicines, including anti-cancer drugs, to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
