India recently hosted high-level ministerial meetings focused on agricultural and forestry cooperation with regional partners.
At the 9th ASEAN–India Ministerial Meeting on Agriculture and Forestry in New Delhi, officials reaffirmed a commitment to food security and sustainable development. Co-chaired by representatives from India and the Philippines, the meeting emphasized the ASEAN–India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. Key areas for future cooperation include digital innovation, AI-enabled agriculture, climate-resilient practices, and soil health, guided by the ASEAN Food, Agriculture and Forestry Sectoral Plan 2026–2030.
Separately, the 7th India-Japan Joint Working Group meeting on forests took place in Bengaluru. The delegations discussed cooperation regarding forest genetics, tree resources outside forests, and geospatial monitoring technologies. The meeting resulted in the endorsement of a roadmap for 2027–2031 to deepen bilateral relations in biodiversity conservation, research, and capacity building.
