India Increases LPG Cylinder Deliveries, Surpassing Bookings Amid Supply Push

The Indian government reported that in the past four days it supplied roughly 1.72 crore LPG cylinders, exceeding the 1.66 crore domestic bookings. Joint Secretary Sujata Sharma of the Petroleum Ministry said the backlog is decreasing, with delivery times cut to about 4.5 days, and refinery output lifted to roughly 50,000 tonnes per day.

The Ministry highlighted that nearly 99 % of cylinder bookings are now made digitally and 95 % are authenticated via delivery codes, helping prevent diversion. Commercial LPG allocation has risen to about 70 % of pre‑crisis levels, and sales of 5 kg free‑trade cylinders continue to grow through awareness camps. The government also issued transfer vouchers for customers shifting away from PNG connections, emphasizing that there is no fuel shortage.

These measures aim to stabilize household cooking‑gas supply amid ongoing geopolitical tensions that had previously extended delivery windows.
