India industrial production grows 6.7 percent in July

India's industrial production grew by 6.7 percent in July, according to the latest Index of Industrial Production (IIP). Economists and industry experts suggest this growth indicates economic resilience despite global uncertainties, high energy prices, and geopolitical challenges.

Within the manufacturing sector, production rose by 7.3 percent, while the electricity and gas supply sector saw an 8.7 percent increase. The expansion was widespread, with 19 out of 23 industrial groups reporting positive growth. Leading sectors included electrical equipment, automobiles, transport equipment, and machinery.

Data highlights a strong investment-driven cycle, particularly in capital goods, which grew by 16.1 percent. Infrastructure and construction goods also saw a 6.9 percent increase. Other notable growth areas included intermediate goods at 10 percent and consumer durables at 10.5 percent.
