India invests in startup and AI ecosystems
The Indian government and regional authorities are making significant investments to bolster the nation's technology and entrepreneurship sectors. The Delhi state cabinet has approved an initial ₹50 crore allocation for the GO-DELHI Foundation. This initiative aims to support over 21,000 startups by providing improved access to funding, mentorship, technical infrastructure, and product development resources.
On a national scale, the government has approved 190 projects under the IndiaAI Mission, committing ₹10,372 crore to the ecosystem. While these projects include support for startups and MSMEs, experts note a critical need for localized Indian datasets to train AI models effectively, particularly for regional languages and specific local contexts.
