India-Japan T20I tickets sell out for historic match in Sano
Tickets for the historic India-Japan T20 International scheduled for September 22 have sold out, according to the Japan Cricket Association (JCA). The match will be held at the Sano International Cricket Ground in Tochigi Prefecture.
Part of the Suzuki Cup, the fixture commemorates the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Japan. It marks the first official international cricket match between the senior men’s teams of the two nations. The event is also part of the ‘Sport 75’ initiative, which was established following a summit between Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote people-to-people exchange through sports.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated that the match is a significant moment for the sport, offering an opportunity to introduce cricket to a wider audience in Japan and East Asia. The BCCI expressed its commitment to working with the JCA to strengthen the sport's presence in Japan.
