India Keeps Fuel Supplies Flowing Amid Global Disruptions, Denies Direct Gasoline Exports to Russia

Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said India’s expanding refining capacity and strategic planning prevented any fuel shortages despite recent global supply disruptions linked to the Strait of Hormuz. He highlighted that all 1.07 lakh petrol pumps across the country remained operational.

Puri also rejected reports that Indian refiners are exporting gasoline to Russia, stating that neither public nor private Indian refineries are shipping fuel directly to Moscow. Any Indian‑origin fuel reaching Russia would have passed through intermediaries, he explained. India continues to be a major refining hub, supplying refined products to more than 140 countries.

The minister noted that stable international crude prices could allow domestic petrol and diesel prices to fall in the coming months.
