India Landmine Blast Injures Two Soldiers in Jammu & Kashmir's Uri Sector

Two Indian Army personnel were injured on 28 July 2026 when a stray landmine exploded near the Upper Garh forward post of the 8 Rashtriya Rifles in the Kamalkote area of the Uri sector, Baramulla district, close to the Line of Control (LoC). The injured jawans, identified as Dafadar Vijay Kumar, 42, and Naik Sharanapa Angari, 28, were air‑lifted to the army base hospital at Badamibagh Cantonment in Srinagar for treatment.

Authorities said the blast appears to have been accidental, likely triggered when the soldiers stepped on the device; the exact cause remains under investigation. The incident marks the second landmine‑related injury near the LoC in over a month, following a June 16 explosion in Rajouri that wounded a junior commissioned officer and three troops. Landmines are deployed as part of an anti‑infiltration grid along the LoC, and heavy rains can cause them to shift from their intended positions, leading to such accidental detonations.
