India Launches Digital Census 2027 Campaign

The Office of the Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India has launched the Census 2027 Campaign, inviting participation from across the country. This marks India's first fully digital census, using mobile applications for data collection and introducing a Self‑Enumeration facility to streamline the process.

In partnership with the MyGov platform, the campaign runs a series of creative competitions and interactive activities—including quizzes, digital storytelling, and reel contests—to engage students, youth, educational institutions, and the wider public. The initiative aims to raise awareness of the census’s role in evidence‑based planning, policy making, welfare programmes and inclusive development, encouraging broader citizen involvement in this large‑scale statistical exercise.
