India launches digital livestock insurance portal and steel safety council

Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh has launched the Pashudhan Bima Portal, a unified digital platform designed for livestock insurance. Developed under the National Livestock Mission, the portal serves farmers, insurers, and implementing agencies to provide transparent, technology-driven insurance services. The platform supports digital application submissions, real-time monitoring, and faster claims processing, and is available in Hindi, English, and 11 regional languages.

Additionally, the Ministry of Steel announced the establishment of the Steel Industry Safety Council (SISC). This apex body aims to strengthen safety standards and accident prevention within India's steel sector. Chaired by Sandeep Poundrik, Secretary of the Ministry of Steel, the council will be supported by a Steel Industry Safety Directorate (SISD) to conduct audits and investigate incidents.
