India launches massive 2026 tree‑planting drives across the nation

The Varsha Mangal Mahotsav 2026, organised by Ankitgram Sewadham Ashram, will run from 22 July to 4 September and aims to plant 45 lakh (4.5 million) trees in 45 days nationwide. The campaign invites schools, colleges, corporations, NGOs and volunteers, seeks a record entry in the India Book of Records and stresses long‑term care of the saplings.

In Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will lead the “Hariyali Ka Utsav” on 12 July, targeting the planting of 35 crore (350 million) saplings in a single day under the Vriksharopan Mahayagya‑2026 programme. The effort involves the forest, rural development, agriculture, horticulture and local bodies, with more than 57.62 crore saplings already prepared in about 2 000 nurseries.
