India launches Snapchat account and student 'Gen Z Rising' tour after Jantar Mantar protests
The Government of India announced an official presence on Snapchat, with Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal urging young citizens to follow the new account for updates. The move follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s midnight video address to youth after the recent Jantar Mantar protests over a leaked NEET paper and police actions.
Separately, the All India Students’ Association (AISA) unveiled a nationwide "Gen Z Rising" campaign. AISA president Neha will lead a multi‑state tour beginning in Ranchi and covering major cities such as Kolkata, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai. The campaign seeks to mobilise students around education‑reform demands, including the abolition of the National Testing Agency, rollback of the National Education Policy, and greater employment opportunities for young people.
