India launches upgraded Agri Welfare Portal for mobile access to farming schemes

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has launched an upgraded Agri Welfare Portal designed to provide farmers across India with direct access to government schemes, financial assistance, and agricultural information via mobile phones.

The platform acts as a single-window gateway for major initiatives such as PM-KISAN, AgriStack, and the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. By consolidating these services, the portal aims to eliminate the need for farmers to visit multiple government offices or navigate various websites to submit applications or seek information.

In addition to serving individual farmers, the digital ecosystem will integrate Farmer Producer Organisations, Primary Agricultural Credit Societies, agricultural scientists, researchers, and startups. To ensure accessibility for small and marginal farmers with limited formal education, the minister emphasized that the portal must feature simple language and processes. A nationwide training campaign will be conducted through Krishi Vigyan Kendras to assist farmers in utilizing these digital tools effectively.
