India leads G20 economic growth with 6.1% annual rate since 2014

India has achieved the highest average annual compound growth rate among G20 nations since 2014. According to data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, India's economy grew at an average rate of 6.1% in US dollar terms during this period, surpassing China's 5.9% and the United States' 5.3%.

Key drivers for this growth include significant expansions in physical and digital infrastructure, such as enhanced power generation and extended highway networks. Government policies aimed at boosting manufacturing capacity, promoting innovation, and attracting investment have also strengthened the economic foundation. Additionally, India's large young workforce, comprising approximately 35% of its population, serves as a major engine for entrepreneurship and labor supply.

While the growth is notable, some critics suggest that compound annual growth rates measured in US dollars can be influenced by inflation, exchange rate fluctuations, and base changes, which may not fully reflect real economic growth or standards of living.
