India loses No.1 T20I ranking after series defeats to Ireland and England

India’s ten‑year hold on the top spot in the ICC T20I rankings ended after a 2‑0 series loss to Ireland at home and a 4‑0 whitewash by England in Southampton. The defeats dropped the Men in Blue to second place, ending a 1,605‑day reign.

The series marked the first loss under new captain Shreyas Iyer, who took over from Suryakumar Yadav following the latter’s removal from the role and the squad. Iyer cited the need to adapt to changing conditions and improve fielding as key issues. With the ranking slip, India will next face Zimbabwe in July, aiming to halt the losing streak.
