India LPG customers must finish e‑KYC by Aug 15 or lose subsidised cylinders

India’s oil marketing companies – Indian Oil (IOCL), Bharat Petroleum (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL) – have warned domestic LPG users to complete biometric e‑KYC by 15 August 2024. Failure to do so will result in the loss of the Ujjwala‑scheme subsidy, forcing customers to pay market rates for cylinders.

In Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district, about two lakh of 12 lakh connections still lack e‑KYC. Authorities are urging consumers to use mobile apps (IndianOil One, Hello BPCL, HP Pay), delivery personnel, agency offices, Common Service Centres or special verification camps to finish the process. Unverified connections risk disconnection and higher prices.

The deadline applies to all LPG users of the three major distributors, and the government’s subsidy of ₹300 per cylinder under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will be withdrawn for non‑compliant customers.
