India raises domestic LPG cylinder price by Rs 29 per unit

Effective June 7 2026, the price of a standard 14.2‑kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi rose from ₹913 to ₹942, a ₹29 increase that marks the second hike in three months. The previous rise of ₹60 per cylinder was implemented on March 7 after supply disruptions caused by the West Asia conflict pushed up international fuel prices.

Industry sources say state‑run oil marketing companies were losing roughly ₹703 on each cylinder before the latest revision, and the hike is intended to offset part of those under‑recoveries. The increase comes amid a broader rise in fuel costs: petrol and diesel prices have climbed a cumulative ₹7.50 per litre since mid‑May, while CNG rates are about ₹6 per kg higher. The government has so far avoided a full pass‑through of higher global energy costs to consumers, absorbing part of the loss through state‑owned fuel retailers.

The change is expected to affect millions of Indian households that rely on LPG for cooking, adding to existing inflationary pressures on household budgets.
