India LPG cylinder prices stay steady as subsidies offset cost rise
Domestic LPG cylinder prices in India showed no change on the day of reporting. The 14.2‑kg household cylinder was priced at ₹942 in Delhi and ₹941.5 in Mumbai, while the larger 19‑kg commercial cylinder was ₹3,113.50 in Delhi and around ₹3,060‑₹3,113 in other cities. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), beneficiaries receive a ₹300 per‑cylinder subsidy, reducing the effective household price to about ₹642.
The last price adjustment occurred on 7 June, when the household price rose by ₹29 and the commercial price by ₹42. The government expects any price cuts to be delayed until August or September, citing higher Saudi contract prices for LPG and the need to absorb earlier cost increases. Officials indicated that lower crude‑oil prices abroad may eventually lead to retail relief, but the impact could take several weeks as new, cheaper stock reaches India.
