India marks 80th Independence Day with celebrations in Oman
India's 80th Independence Day was marked by various celebrations in Oman, highlighting the ties between the two nations. The Indian Social Club Oman hosted a large event in Muscat attended by the Indian Ambassador to Oman, His Excellency Shri Prashant Pise. The celebration included cultural performances and the presentation of the ‘Indian of the Year’ award to Balwinder Singh for his community service and philanthropy.
In a separate maritime event, more than 200 students from Indian schools in Muscat visited the indigenously built warship INS Imphal during its port call at Sultan Qaboos Port. The visit allowed students to observe naval capabilities and learn about the Indian Navy's role in the Indian Ocean Region. The Indian Navy reported that its ships marked the anniversary at several overseas ports, including Muscat, Djibouti, and Ponta Delgada, to reaffirm maritime cooperation and friendship.
