India may rest key pacers for New Zealand ODI series
India's team management is considering resting key fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Prasidh Krishna for the latter part of the upcoming ODI series in New Zealand. This workload management strategy aims to ensure the frontline bowlers are fresh for the two-Test leg of the tour, which holds significant importance for the World Test Championship.
The ODI series is scheduled to run from November 4 to November 15, followed by the first Test in Wellington on November 19. The short four-day gap between the series concludes and the Test matches has prompted the decision to potentially withdraw the trio after the third ODI.
Prasidh Krishna's participation remains uncertain due to a recent hamstring injury sustained during the series against the West Indies. While his injury may not be severe enough to rule him out of the New Zealand tour entirely, his selection depends on clearance from the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence. Captain Shubman Gill has noted the difficulty of managing injuries and scheduling while attempting to finalize combinations ahead of the 2027 ODI World Cup.
