India Ministry of Corporate Affairs extends FY26 filing deadlines

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) has extended the deadlines for companies to file financial statements and annual returns for the 2025-26 financial year. Under the new circular, companies may submit financial statements via Form AOC-4, including XBRL and NBFC forms, by December 31, 2026, without incurring additional fees.

The deadline for filing annual returns through Forms MGT-7 and MGT-7A has been extended to January 31, 2027. This decision follows representations from stakeholders, including the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), who cited significant technical difficulties with the MCA-21 Version 3 (V3) portal.

Professionals reported frequent issues with the online platform, such as login failures, session timeouts, slow response times, and errors in pre-filled data, which hindered the ability to complete statutory filings accurately.
