India mob assaults teens in Madhya Pradesh and Kerala over alleged theft and drug charges

In Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh, a 17‑year‑old was seized after a scooter theft allegation. Witnesses bound his hands with rope, removed his shirt and beat him while a video of the assault circulated on social media. Police registered two separate FIRs – one for the assault and another for the alleged theft – and are investigating the incident and the role of those who filmed it.

In Perumbavoor, Kerala, three youths were accused of involvement in a narcotics trade. A local mob forced them to sit on their knees, publicly humiliated them and had a barber shave their heads. The victims filed a complaint, prompting police to open an investigation and seek the identities of the attackers.
