India: Monday Vedic Remedies and 16‑Monday Fast Guidance for June 2026
Religious experts shared four simple Monday (Somvar) practices to be performed at the start of June 2026. The rituals—offering rice and water to a Shiva lingam, mixing raw milk into water for abhishek, lighting a lamp at the main doorway in the evening, and donating white items such as milk, rice or clothing—are believed to remove poverty, bring prosperity, and support career progress throughout the month.
A separate guide detailed the observance of the Solah Somvar (16 Monday) fast, recommending that devotees begin the fast during the holy month of Sawan. According to the Hindu calendar, Sawan in 2026 starts on 30 July and ends on 28 August. The fast should commence on the first Monday of Sawan and includes specific rules such as early morning bathing, wearing clean white or yellow clothing, offering milk and water to Shiva, and reciting the “Om Namah Shivaya” mantra. Practitioners believe the fast brings marital harmony, spiritual purification, and the fulfillment of personal wishes.
