India monitors Tehran geopolitical talks
India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has stated that the country is closely monitoring significant geopolitical developments in the region, specifically a meeting in Tehran involving officials from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan, and Iran.
Reports indicate the discussions in Tehran aim to de-escalate regional tensions and secure a ceasefire between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthi group, with Iran reportedly facilitating the negotiations. While some reports suggested Saudi Arabia proposed financial assistance to the Houthis to halt attacks, the transfer of USD 1 billion has not been independently confirmed.
Additionally, the MEA addressed growing ties between the Maldives and Pakistan following Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu’s visit to Islamabad. India maintains that its relationship with the Maldives is anchored in its ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and the SAGAR vision, emphasizing a commitment to mutually beneficial ties while remaining vigilant regarding national security interests.
