India murder accused faked death using AI and a goat
Police in Uttar Pradesh, India, have arrested Rajkumar Rajbhar, a suspect in a 2016 murder case, after he allegedly staged his own death to avoid a potential life sentence. Rajbhar had been underground for approximately 18 months.
According to authorities, the 38-year-old orchestrated an elaborate deception by using an AI-generated photograph of himself lying on a funeral pyre to obtain a death certificate from the Mau Municipal Council. To complete the ruse, he reportedly had a goat cremated in his place at a funeral pyre.
Following the staged death, Rajbhar’s family held a funeral ceremony, and his wife reportedly received approximately 1 million rupees in insurance money, which police are currently investigating. The deception was uncovered after police tracked him down in Mau. Rajbhar and his associate, Sudarshan Rajbhar, are accused of the 2016 shooting death of Yogesh Singh following a business dispute.
