India Names Anmol Ekka Captain of Junior Men's Hockey Squad for 2026 Asia Cup

Hockey India announced an 18‑member junior men’s hockey squad for the AHF Junior Asia Cup 2026, to be held in Moqi, China, from 30 August to 13 September. Defender Anmol Ekka has been appointed captain of the team. The squad, together with two reserves, is training at the Sports Authority of India centre in Bengaluru under newly appointed head coach Frederic Soyez. Preparations have included an exposure tour of Belgium and practice matches against Malaysia’s U‑21 side. Goalkeepers Vivek Lakra and Kunal Tewatia lead the last‑line, while the defensive line features Anmol Ekka, Rohit Kullu, Chirag, Ravinder and others. The midfield comprises Adrohit Ekka, Harpal, Jeetpal and Manmeet Singh Rai, and the forward line includes Ajeet Yadav, Prabhdeep Singh, Gursewak Singh, Aryan Xess and Lovenoor Singh. Coach Soyez highlighted the squad’s balance, discipline and tactical readiness for the competitive Asian tournament.
