India names Shreyas Iyer captain and picks 15‑year‑old Vaibhav Suryavanshi for England/T20 tour

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15‑member squad for the upcoming India tour of England and Ireland. Shreyas Iyer has been appointed T20 captain, taking over from Suryakumar Yadav, while Tilak Varma will serve as vice‑captain. The squad also includes 15‑year‑old prodigy Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who could become the youngest player ever to represent India in senior international cricket.

The five‑match T20 series against England begins on 1 July, with fixtures scheduled for Chester‑Le‑Street, Manchester, and other venues, concluding on 11 July. A One‑Day International series will follow from 14 July to 19 July. The selections are described as part of a long‑term strategy to develop young talent for future competitions.
