India national football team completes friendly series against Panama, Brazil, and Uruguay
The Indian national football team, known as the Blue Tigers, recently completed a series of three international friendly matches against 2026 World Cup participants Panama, Brazil, and Uruguay.
India opened the series with a 1-1 draw against Panama in Bengaluru. Following a 0-4 defeat against Brazil in Kolkata, the team faced Uruguay at Salt Lake Stadium. In the match against Uruguay, Anirudh Thapa scored an equalizer, becoming only the second Indian to score against the team in a senior international match.
Despite the historic goal, India ultimately lost to Uruguay 1-6. Across the three matches, India scored two goals and conceded 11. While the results highlight defensive challenges, players and coaching staff noted the experience as a significant learning opportunity against high-caliber opponents.
