India Pharma Archives launched to preserve pharmaceutical history

Union Minister Anupriya Patel has launched the India Pharma Archives during the IIMA Healthcare Summit in Ahmedabad. The initiative is designed to preserve and document 125 years of the Indian pharmaceutical industry's history.

Building upon the foundation of the book ‘The Alchemy of Cure’, the archive serves as a living, evolving digital resource. It includes a collection of rare historical materials such as company histories, archival collections, films, footage, interview transcripts, and timelines. The platform aims to provide researchers, students, policymakers, and industry leaders with access to the sector's institutional memory through advanced search tools.

Industry leaders, including Dr. Sharvil Patel of Zydus Lifesciences and Sudarshan Jain of the Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA), noted that the archive will safeguard the legacy of innovation and serve as an educational resource to address future health challenges.
