India pledges to advance Fiji pre-COP climate discussion outcomes

Indian Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, has reaffirmed India’s commitment to advancing the constructive outcomes of the pre-COP discussions held in Nadi, Fiji. The goal is to carry these positive developments forward to the upcoming COP31 summit scheduled to take place in Antalya, Turkey.

Following several days of bilateral and multilateral talks aimed at building consensus, Minister Yadav emphasized that India is prepared to work closely with the COP31 presidency and all stakeholders. During discussions regarding the ‘political landing zone and outcomes,’ India called for increased flexibility, practicality, and mutual respect among all parties to resolve remaining differences under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

Minister Yadav stressed the need to move beyond dialogue toward concrete action and coordination in response to the growing impacts of climate change. He expressed hope that COP31 will establish a clear path for enhancing engagement, technical cooperation, and targeted support for capacity building, ensuring a balanced and just outcome for the global community, particularly those most affected.
