India police arrest suspects in Barmer assault and Surat counterfeit‑soap raid
Police in Barmer, Rajasthan, arrested four men suspected of violently assaulting a municipal council employee in the city’s main market. After the arrests, officers escorted the suspects on foot from Kotwali police station back to the market to confirm the incident in front of a large crowd, and further questioning is ongoing.
In Surat, Gujarat, police raided a factory in the Amroli industrial area that was producing counterfeit cosmetic soaps. The raid yielded over ₹1.81 million worth of duplicate products resembling well‑known brands, and a 27‑year‑old trader was taken into custody under the Copyright Act. The seized items included fake “KOJIC SOAP” and “MAGIC SOAP” packaging, along with empty wrappers.
Both actions reflect local law‑enforcement efforts against violent assaults and illegal manufacturing in India.
