India police bust counterfeit rupee operations in Odisha and Karnataka

Police in Odisha's capital, Bhubaneswar, detained a youth after a shopkeeper flagged a suspicious ₹100 note that felt unusually thin. Local residents confronted the duo, one fled while the other, identified as an Odia youth, was handed over to Badagada police. Officers seized the motorcycle and multiple fake ₹100 notes and launched an investigation into the source of the counterfeit currency.

In Karnataka's Chikkamagaluru district, Mudigere police arrested two men attempting to circulate counterfeit ₹200 notes bearing the fake “Biserv Bank of India” imprint. Authorities recovered 45 counterfeit notes worth about ₹18,000 and indicated the suspects may be part of a larger fake‑currency network.
