Ajmer police seize ₹13 lakh in counterfeit Rs 500 notes

Ajmer police arrested a 27‑year‑old man identified as Vikram during a special anti‑crime drive in the city’s Dargah area. Officers recovered counterfeit ₹500 notes with a face value of about ₹13.06 lakh, along with printed sheets used for forging the notes. Vikram, previously employed in the wedding industry, is alleged to have been preparing to circulate the fake currency. He was produced before a court and remanded for one day while investigations continue to trace the source of the counterfeit notes and dismantle the network.

In a separate operation in Guwahati, police seized ₹13.5 lakh worth of fake Indian currency and arrested five individuals, indicating a broader counterfeit‑currency racket across states. Both incidents highlight ongoing efforts by Indian law‑enforcement agencies to curb large‑scale forgery.
