India police investigate two separate cases of sexual assault against minors
Two separate cases of severe crimes against minors have been reported in India.
In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, police have registered a case against ten individuals, including a maternal uncle and several relatives, for the gang rape of a minor student. The victim reported that her uncle, along with his associates, repeatedly assaulted her, leading to a pregnancy. The suspects allegedly orchestrated a forced abortion at a private hospital when the pregnancy reached four months and twenty days. Following a complaint to DCP West Kasim Abidi, a formal investigation was initiated.
In Phaltan, Satara district, authorities arrested Saurabh Nana Madane for the alleged rape of a minor girl under the guise of exorcism. The accused reportedly claimed the victim was possessed by a ghost and used superstitious rituals to lure her to a secluded location where the assault occurred. The victim's family has reported receiving threatening letters and signs of occult practices outside their home, prompting demands for police protection.
